Why hair gets static in the first place
Strands pick up electrons from friction — a wool hat, a synthetic scarf, brushing dry hair. When the air is dry there is no moisture to carry that charge away, so the now-charged strands all repel each other and lift apart. That is why static peaks when humidity drops: the charge builds up faster than it can dissipate.

Fix 1: Add moisture with a fine mist

- Use a satin or silk pillowcase so overnight friction stops charging your hair.
- Keep a leave-in conditioner or a drop of hair oil on the ends during heating season.
Fix 5: Use your hands and a little water as an emergency fix
In a pinch, rub a tiny amount of hand cream between your palms and lightly pat — not rub — the flyaway surface. Or simply wet your fingertips and smooth the strands. It is the same principle as the mist: moisture discharges the static.
Fix 6: Rehydrate the hair itself
Weekly deep conditioning keeps the cuticle sealed so strands slide past each other. Static is worse on dry, porous ends, so concentrate conditioner and masks on the last third of the hair.
